The Connecticut Women's Consortium strives to provide the best quality behavioral health education across all platforms. As with any online activity, the quality of our virtual trainings is heavily dependent on participants' individual internet connectivity; if available to you, we strongly suggest hard-wiring to your internet connection for the duration of the training. In addition, we urge you to access your virtual training utilizing a laptop or desktop computer, as mobile devices such as smart phones and iPads may lead to a diminished experience. All virtual courses count toward your in-person continuing education credit. The majority of virtual trainings are hosted through Zoom. The link to attend as well as any relevant handouts will be emailed to registered participants 2 business days ahead of the training. In purchasing a virtual training, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the information above.

Individuals who use substances are prone to relapse and treatment programs frequently fail to identify the high-risk situations that threaten a client’s recovery once they are released from treatment. Most folks leave treatment full of optimism and insight only to discover that after a couple of months their recovery has taken a “back seat” to their daily grind. They discover that problems in the workplace, family, relationships, finances, and social life become time consuming, overwhelming, and take precedent over their recovery. They tend to get too busy to attend support groups and when they do attend, they don’t get involved. They procrastinate and become spectators rather than participators in their own recovery process.
The first few months following treatment are critical to the maintenance of a long-term recovery program. A relapse prevention plan gives clients an opportunity to identify specific relapse warning signs, develop warning sign management strategies, and develop a revised recovery plan. In this course we will explore the dynamics of the recovery process and plan development.
