The Connecticut Women's Consortium strives to provide the best quality behavioral health education across all platforms. As with any online activity, the quality of our virtual trainings is heavily dependent on participants' individual internet connectivity; if available to you, we strongly suggest hard-wiring to your internet connection for the duration of the training. In addition, we urge you to access your virtual training utilizing a laptop or desktop computer, as mobile devices such as smart phones and iPads may lead to a diminished experience. All virtual courses count toward your in-person continuing education credit. Virtual trainings are hosted through GoToMeeting and the link to attend as well as any relevant handouts will be emailed to registered participants a minimum of 2 business days ahead of the training. In purchasing a virtual training, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the information above. For more information or to request assistance contact the Education & Training department at email@example.com.
Trainer: Charles Atkins, MD
This day-long workshop explores how we got to where we are with opioids, and what strategies, including medication assisted treatment, legislative fixes, wellness, therapeutic interventions, and such are being put into play to turn back the tide of disability and death. The program, through the use of didactics, dense case-studies, and small group work will explore how to accurately and thoroughly assess an individual, and work with them to construct reality-based plans that will move them forward in the direction of recovery and overall goals and aspirations. As the majority of individuals with opioid use disorders have at least one co-occurring mental health problem, and often related medical issues, a whole-person, and highly individualized, approach will be emphasized. The content includes the use of standard diagnostic criteria, public-domain screening tools, current psychopharmacological interventions and a broad range of evidence-based therapeutic and theoretical strategies (CBT, DBT, 12-step, Motivational Enhancement, Stage of Change Theory, Harm Reduction, Recovery, Trauma-based therapies, Peer Support, Wellness etc.).
